A VSME report under the Voluntary Standard (VS), for companies with up to 1,000 employees

Every calculated figure in your report has a named source you can show.

ESGDO guides you through the full VSME standard. It calculates your energy and emission figures using official national data, checks your answers for errors, and produces a finished report as a PDF file and as an XBRL file.

Pay once per report. No subscription.

One report, exported in full in any of eight languages.

Built on the EFRAG VSME standard and the taxonomy of 1 May 2026.

Emission factors from six named national databases.

Someone asked your company for sustainability data

Your bank asked

Banks request sustainability data when they assess a loan. A VSME report gives them the information in a standard form, with figures they can trace back to a source.

A large customer asked

Large companies that report under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, known as CSRD, must collect data from their suppliers. From the financial year 2027 they cannot require more sustainability data than the VSME standard from a company with up to one thousand employees. One VSME report is the legal answer. You do not need a full CSRD report.

You want to answer everyone once

Banks, insurers, investors and large customers each send different forms. One complete VSME report usually answers all of them. Prepare the report once and share the same document with everyone who asks.

What you receive

PDF

A report you can send

One PDF file with a cover page, a contents page, navigation bookmarks, and charts for energy, emissions and workforce data. It is ready to send to a bank or a customer without further formatting.

XBRL

A file their systems can read

One XBRL file built on the EFRAG VSME taxonomy. Banks, auditors and large buyers use structured files to load your figures directly into their systems, without retyping. Only two of the competing products we reviewed offer this to small companies at all.

How it works

1

Add your company

Enter your company once. For Polish companies, ESGDO fills the legal details from the official national register using the tax number. For any EU company, it checks the VAT number against the EU VIES service and fills in the registered address.

2

Answer the questions in your language

The application shows only the sections that apply to your report type and your answers. Each field has a written explanation. The AI assistant can explain the field, propose text, show an example, or check what you already wrote.

3

Calculate energy and emissions inside the application

Enter fuel and electricity figures. The emissions calculator produces Scope 1 and Scope 2 figures using national emission factors. The fuel converter turns litres, kilograms and cubic metres into megawatt hours. Results are written straight into the report.

4

Check and export

The application checks your report for missing fields and for figures that do not agree with each other. Then you export the PDF and the XBRL file in the language you selected.

We name every source behind your emission figures

Carbon figures are only useful if someone else can check them. ESGDO uses published national emission factor databases, and each factor carries the year it was published. When you apply a calculated figure to your report, the application records which factor produced it.

Country or scope Source
Poland KOBiZE
Germany UBA
France ADEME
United Kingdom DESNZ
European electricity grids AIB
International electricity data Ember

If your company operates in more than one country, we notice

Electricity emission factors differ greatly between countries. One megawatt hour in Poland does not produce the same emissions as one megawatt hour in France. ESGDO reads the sites you entered in the general section of your report. If those sites are in different countries, the application offers separate energy fields for each country, applies the correct national factor to each one, and adds the results together. You can also decline and enter a single figure for the whole company.

We reviewed eighteen competing products. None of them detects a multi country footprint from your own site list and changes the input form in response.

An assistant that shows you where its answers came from

Every product in this market claims artificial intelligence. Very few explain what the answer is based on. ESGDO shows you the sources behind each reply, and it knows which field you are asking about.

It works from three layers of documents

A library maintained by ESGDO, documents your account uploads, and documents attached to one specific company. Answers about one client company do not draw on another client's documents.

It knows the field

Click into a field and the assistant receives the field name, its official explanation, your working language, and any text you already wrote. Answers are about that disclosure, not about sustainability in general.

It shows its sources

Each reply lists the documents used to produce it.

You can insert the answer

The part of the reply that will go into the field is marked before you accept it. One action inserts it. The rest of the reply stays in the chat as explanation.

Each reply lists the documents used

The assistant names the company document behind the figure. The part that will go into the field is marked before you accept it.

Four actions available on every field

Documents stay with the company you chose

Upload a file to one company or to the whole account. Answers about one client company do not draw on another client's documents.

The application checks your report before anyone else does

Reviewers do not usually find missing fields. They find figures that contradict each other. ESGDO checks both, and it repeats the checks on the server against your saved data, not only in your browser.

Figures that must agree

  • The number of women plus the number of men must equal the total headcount you reported.
  • The breakdown by contract type must also equal that headcount.
  • Water figures must agree with the totals you entered.
  • A figure of zero is treated as an unanswered field where the standard requires a real measurement.

Progress is listed by pillar and by section, including what is still missing. It is calculated for the language you are working in.

Sections that appear from your answers

  1. If your activity code is marked as high climate impact, the transition plan section appears in a comprehensive report.
  2. If the company has fifty or more employees, the workforce turnover section appears and becomes required.
  3. If the legal form is a cooperative, the cooperative disclosures appear and become required.
  4. Greenhouse gas fields become required when your answers make them relevant.

One report. Several complete language versions.

Your management, your bank and your parent company do not always read the same language. In ESGDO the descriptive sections are stored separately for each language. Change the application language and the form shows the text for that language, ready for you to write it. The figures stay the same in every version. Only the language changes.

A manufacturer in Germany prepares one report. Management reads the German version. The parent company in the United States receives the English version. A customer in France receives the French version. It is one report with one set of figures, not three documents kept in step by hand.

Nothing is translated behind your back

ESGDO does not machine translate your report when you export it. You write each language version, or you ask the AI assistant to propose text in that language. If narrative text is missing in the export language, the application tells you instead of quietly using another language.

Exports are complete in the language you choose

The HTML preview, the PDF file and the XBRL file are all produced in the active language, including every chart label.

Eight languages, on the website and in the application

English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese for Brazil, Polish and Dutch. The interface, the field explanations and the AI assistant are translated. The website offers the same eight languages as the application, so you never arrive in a language the product does not support.

Reference data comes from official EU sources

Activity codes, pollutant registers and waste catalogues come from EU legal sources rather than from a custom list. Country reference data is stored in all twenty four official EU languages.

Preparing reports for more than one company

Accounting firms, advisors, holdings and associations use ESGDO for every company in one account. Add the companies you report for. Invite the people who work on them.

  • Unlimited companies
  • Unlimited team members at no extra cost
  • Each person limited to the companies they work on
  • Invoice issued to your organisation or to the company you report for

You pay for a report,

not for a year

Most products in this market sell an annual subscription. ESGDO does not. You pay once for each report you prepare. The price depends on how many employees your company has. AI credits are included. You can pay in euro, in US dollar or in Polish złoty.

If you pay from another currency, the payment gateway converts the amount when you pay. You can pay by card or by online bank transfer. The banks you can choose from depend on the country you pay from. Many companies choose a transfer from a company account, because a card is usually issued to a person.

Your work does not disappear between reports. When you pay for a report, we keep your company data, your answers and your uploaded documents for at least eighteen months, at no further cost. Every new report renews that period.

This matters more than it sounds. From your second report onward, the VSME standard asks you to show last year's figures next to this year's. Because your previous report is still here, those figures are still here too.

Questions before you start

Do I have to prepare a VSME report?

Most companies with up to one thousand employees are not required by law to publish a sustainability report. The requests come from banks and from large customers who need the data for their own reporting. From the financial year 2027, those large customers cannot require more than a VSME report.

Can a large customer still send me a longer questionnaire?

They can send it. From the financial year 2027 they cannot require you to answer more than the VSME standard covers, if your company has up to one thousand employees. A complete VSME report is the legal maximum they can demand. We cannot promise that every customer will stop asking. We can give you the standard answer, with sources for every figure.

Will my bank accept this report?

The report follows the VSME standard published by EFRAG, and the file structure follows the EFRAG taxonomy. We cannot promise what any individual bank will decide. We can show you where every figure in the report came from, which is what a reviewer asks about.

Do I need to understand the standard first?

No. The application shows only the sections that apply to you, explains every field, and checks your answers.

Is the AI writing my report for me?

The assistant proposes text and explains fields. You decide what goes into the report. Every proposal shows the documents it was based on, and you see exactly which part will be inserted before you accept it.

Can I see the result before I pay?

Yes. A complete sample report and the matching XBRL file are available to download with no registration.

Start with the first section at no cost

Create an account, add your company, and complete the first part of the report without paying. You pay once when you are ready to continue with the rest.
